Everything starts with what we wear every day
Underwear is the first layer we put on and the one that stays in contact with the skin the longest. That’s why it needs to be soft, lightweight, and able to adapt to the body without restricting movement.
The Pompea collection made with Q-NOVA® by Fulgar yarn stems from the combination of these comfort requirements and a different choice of raw material used in the polyamide component.
Briefs, boxers, underwear, and socks are designed to move naturally with the body, offering a lightweight feel similar to a second skin.
When can waste become a new raw material?
During yarn production, residual materials are inevitably generated. To make Q-NOVA®, Fulgar recovers selected waste materials from its own production cycle that could not be reused directly in other processes.
Through a mechanical regeneration process, these materials are sorted, remelted, and transformed back into raw material, ready to be used in the production of polyamide 6.6 yarn.
According to Fulgar, Q-NOVA® is made up of more than 50% materials recovered from its own production cycle.
In simple terms: Part of the raw material needed to produce Q-NOVA® does not come from new virgin material, but from waste recovered during Fulgar’s production process.
This does not mean that the garment is made entirely from recycled material: the stated percentage refers to the Q-NOVA® yarn, not automatically to the boxer briefs, briefs, or the entire Pompea product.
Why polyamide is particularly suitable for underwear
An intimate garment must follow the body, retain its shape, and withstand frequent washing.
Polyamide makes it possible to create thin, lightweight, and elastic fabrics that adapt to the body’s contours without feeling heavy.
Lightness against the skin:
The yarn structure makes it possible to create lightweight, low-bulk garments suitable for wearing under clothing.
Elasticity and adaptability:
When combined with elastane or LYCRA® fiber, polyamide allows the fabric to follow the body and move with it.
Durability in everyday use:
Polyamide is suitable for garments exposed to movement and frequent washing. Actual durability nevertheless depends on the product’s construction, frequency of use, and washing methods.

Pompea uses Q-NOVA® in the polyamide component of garments designed for everyday wear. The stretchy structures follow the body’s contours naturally, while the adjustable straps help keep the garment in place without restricting the fit.
Depending on the style, the construction can offer:

How should these results be interpreted correctly?
The data do not mean that a Pompea garment has 41% or 45% less environmental impact overall.
The comparison concerns:
- one kilogram of yarn;
- two specific environmental indicators;
- the international benchmark reported in the study;
- the production boundaries considered in the analysis.
The overall impact of a garment also includes other materials, fabric processing, dyeing, manufacturing, packaging, transport, washing, and end-of-life.

Global Recycled Standard:
The Global Recycled Standard – GRS is a voluntary standard that requires third-party verification of recycled content and chain of custody, along with environmental, social, and process-related substance requirements.
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®
Fulgar associates Q-NOVA® with STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, Class I, Appendix 6, a verification system concerning the presence of potentially harmful substances in textile materials.

According to Fulgar, Q-NOVA® yarn is made up of more than 50% materials recovered from the company’s production cycle. The percentage refers to the yarn and not automatically to the entire Pompea garment.
Does Q-NOVA® have lower emissions than conventional polyamide?
According to the Fulgar 2024 LCA document, for the climate change indicator, producing one kilogram of Q-NOVA® generates approximately 41% fewer CO₂-equivalent emissions than the international reference average for conventional polyamide 6.6. The figure

Is a garment made with Q-NOVA® completely recycled?
Not necessarily. Q-NOVA® is used in the garment’s polyamide component and contains more than 50% recovered materials. The finished product may include Q-NOVA®, other polyamide, elastane, accessories, or other materials.
Is Q-NOVA® suitable for underwear?
Fulgar describes Q-NOVA® for underwear applications and attributes to it characteristics of lightness, moisture management, and resistance comparable to conventional polyamide.
