OUR PHILOSOPHY
Pompea's environmental policy is based on essential cornerstones: one
strong attention to recycling, a controlled production process and
certified, the adoption of a product traceability system a
consumer protection.
GREATER EFFICIENCY IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS TO REDUCE MATERIAL AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION
Energy saving is applied in all Pompea group plants, without distinction, with standards always higher than the local regulations in force. The production site in Italy, in this scenario, represents an incubator of innovation on an environmental level, with experiments to be tested and then exported to foreign plants.
Energy is a key component for the competitiveness of the final product. Among the ongoing experiments worth mentioning is the large-scale diffusion of LED lamps for lighting inside the plant; a constant investment plan which involves the introduction and renewal of existing technology in favor of new, more efficient technologies with low environmental impact, which at the same time allow us to reduce manufacturing waste during the manufacturing cycle.
WHAT CONTRIBUTION CAN PACKAGING DESIGN MAKE TO SUSTAINABILITY POLICIES?
GOOD PACKAGING
The paper and cardboard chosen to package Pompea underwear and tights are responsible and FSC® certified materials, the study of these packaging aimed at maximum recyclability and ease of management by the consumer and recycling companies, the plastic wrappers that protect Pompea tights have a recycled content which also contributes to the reduction of the general consumption of virgin plastic.
In all our shops in Italy we have chosen to include a hanger made of recycled and reusable plastic, the shopper given in the shop at the time of purchase to the consumer is made of recycled and certified paper. Moving from the physical store to the web, our delivery policy includes plastic bags with recycled content and completely recyclable.
Every small action leads to an environmental impact, Pompea's objective is to make it minimal, involving and making the customer responsible in our choices.
THE IMPORTANCE OF RECYCLING
THE SECOND LIFE OF THE MATERIALS USED IN THE COMPANY
Pompea's production waste management and recycling policy is based on the fundamental principle that every material used can have a second life once used in the production cycle, starting from paper and plastic packaging.
The Medole company also recycles over 80% of what enters the production process; the textile waste produced, i.e. the set of fibers discarded during processing, is directly put back into circulation with the sale to other entities in the supply chain for the production of plastic materials.
A further piece of the company strategy concerns the management of plastic packaging, in fact, more than 10% is reused at least once in order to optimize material consumption.
A SAFETY STANDARD FOR POMPEA UNDERWEAR PRODUCTS
Certification is the basis of a path that has led the company to adopt new corporate best practices and to extend them to Pompea's entire production. The objective by 2025 is to have exclusively suppliers with product safety certification according to OEKO-TEX® parameters.
